Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reactathon?
Reactathon is a conference for engineers, managers, and technology leaders who use and love React. It’s a way to bring the community together to share ideas, make new connections, and get inspired. These are our three goals:
- Education. We’ve hand-selected a number of talks that are highly relevant to your everyday work, and pushing the boundaries of frontend development.
- Connections. We facilitate connections through themes, topics, and activities that make it easier to connect with others; from introverts to social butterflies, and everyone in between. Now is more important than ever to give yourself a boost of morale by meeting with colleagues in-person.
- Inspiration. There’s nothing quite like being in-person for an event where you not only learn from leaders in your field who take the stage, but also connect with them, and many others, in the hallway track and through activities. The discussion and excitement generated from these in-person connections, and the liberal exchange of knowledge, will leave you truly energized and inspired to take your own code and company to the next level. Not to mention, you’re likely to strengthen bonds with your existing connections, and perhaps make new friends for life.
Why should I attend?
We think there are lots of reasons to attend, and we’ve put together a few resources to convince you why.
First, we interviewed a number of speakers last year, and they tell their reasons in their own words. Watch here (3-minute YouTube video):
We also put together a document with lots of reasons that may help you to convince your boss to pay for your ticket (and travel) as continuing education/professional development expenses.
Lastly, check out the schedule of talks We’ve taken great care to curate a lineup of talks that are varied, practical, relevant, and boundary-pushing. Each of these talks will give you something to take back to the office to improve your company’s code.
What are the 'Topic Walks' on May 2?
The Topic Tables are have been one of the most beloved activities at Reactathon. Attendeees love them because they help you not only to identify the topics you care most about to maximize your value to time ratio, but also to easily break the ice and connect with new people! This year, we are expanding on this concept with Topic Walks. Since our hotel is in the beautiful Japantown, and the venue is in beautiful Pacific Heights, you can meet one of the Topic Walk managers (or just other attendees) at the hotel and head to a nearby restaurant in Japantown or the Fillmore District, check out the beautiful parks & vistas at Alta Plaza Park & Lafayette Park, or just head for an aimless stroll and take in all the beautiful architecture and views. We'll meet at the official hotel (TBD) at 10:00am.
